Following the success of their critically acclaimed collaboration “Sita Ramam,” South Indian superstar Prabhas and director Hanu Raghavapudi are reportedly teaming up for another project. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film is expected to begin filming in late 2024, with Prabhas allocating his dates after completing work on his ongoing sci-fi film “Kalki 2898 AD.”
Industry sources speculate that the upcoming project will be a period film, marking a return to the genre that Raghavapudi excelled in with “Sita Ramam.” Furthermore, reports suggest that Raghavapudi is keen to reunite with his “Sita Ramam” team for this new venture. This includes Mrunal Thakur, the leading lady who captivated audiences with her portrayal of Sita, being considered once again to star opposite Prabhas. Raghavapudi is believed to be confident that Thakur is the perfect choice to share the screen with the Rebel Star.
Music composer Vishal Bhardwaj, who played a pivotal role in the success of “Sita Ramam” with his melodious soundtrack, is also expected to return for Prabhas’s period film. Rumors suggest that music sittings for the project have already commenced. PS Vinod is being touted as the cinematographer for this highly anticipated flick.
The news comes on the heels of Prabhas’s recent romantic drama “Radhe Shyam,” which underperformed at the box office. This has led some to question whether Raghavapudi can deliver a hit by casting Prabhas in another love story.
Meanwhile, Prabhas’s ongoing project “Kalki 2898 AD” continues to generate immense buzz. This science fiction extravaganza features an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan, with Disha Patani playing a supporting role. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film boasts a dystopian backdrop and unique character designs that have piqued audience interest. Santosh Narayanan is onboard as the music composer, while the cinematography is being handled by Djordje Stojilijkovic. The film is produced by Ashwini Dutt.
