The COVID-19 is spreading, may have already spread in Hyderabad at an alarming rate. On average, one in every 2 suspects that are undergoing tests in the capital city are being tested positive and this tells us the gravity of the situation. This induced severe panic among the people that filled the treasury of the government eventually.
If we observe, at the start of Lockdown-1 many people bought the essential goods in bulk amounts out of panic. Now, when a rumor arose that there will be a complete lockdown due to the sudden increase in the COVID cases, many people started to do the same but that is not the one that filled the Telangana government’s treasury.
This credit goes to alcoholics, our own Mandu Babulu who started to buy alcohol in large amounts in wine shops being frightened of another lockdown. They formed long queues in front of wine shops that brought Rs.973.61 crores revenue to the state government within 4 days (June26-30).
Even in this 1st week of July, after everyone got to know that there won’t be any lockdown, the liquor sales reached the peak as the people are not willing to come out regularly to buy liquor considering the virus threat in the twin cities. This tells us how panicked the Hyderabad people are.
