Popular Malayalam-Tamil actress and comedian Kalpana Ranjani is no more. She passed away in Hyderabad on Monday. Kalpana breathed her last in Hyderabad’s Appollo Hospital. She was critically admitted to hospital and succumbed to it. Reasons for her ailment is yet to be made public.
She was sister of versatile actress Urvashi. Kalpana was 51-year-old. She is survived by son Kumar Sreemayi, sisters Urvashi, Kalaranjini, brothers Kamal Roy, Prince Nair.
Kalpana had bagged the National Award for the Best Supporting Actress for her performance in 2012 Malayalam movie “Thanichalla Njan”. The movie is heart-rending true story of a septuagenarian Namboodiri woman who was saved by a Muslim woman when attempted to suicide.
The film brought several accolades to Kalpana and received several appreciations. She had acted in over 300 films and was popular face cutting across regional language films.
