The Sandalwood actress Ragini Dwivedi, who was arrested by CCB sleuths in a drug peddling case, has granted bail on Thursday, nearly after four months of imprisonment.
The Supreme Court today granted bail to the actress and said the arrest was entirely based on statements of other accused, but no drugs were found at her home. A bench presided over by Justice R F Nariman said this is a case where bail must be granted.
Ragini, 30, was arrested in Bengaluru in September 2020 and was charged under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act of consuming and supplying drugs.
She challenged a Karnataka High Court order rejecting bail on November 3. The actress lawyer Sidharth Luthra argued that no drugs had been found during raids at her home except some tobacco and she was lodged in jail for 140 days
