Ajay Devgn’s Film Put On Hold Due To ‘Kalki 2898 AD’?

The science fiction epic “Kalki 2898 AD,” starring Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan, has emerged as a dominant force at the Indian box office. Following a stellar opening weekend, the film maintained strong momentum on Monday, demonstrating its enduring appeal to audiences.

This lack of competition has further fueled “Kalki 2898 AD”‘s success. With no major releases on the horizon, the film is expected to continue its reign at the box office. Notably, the movie has performed exceptionally well in the Hindi-speaking belt, grossing an impressive ₹135 crore (US$1.6 million) thus far. Analysts predict it will surpass the ₹200 crore (US$2.4 million) mark within days.

In stark contrast, Bollywood big-budget productions are facing a string of failures. Established stars are unable to attract significant audiences, while Prabhas’s “Kalki 2898 AD” enjoys phenomenal success. This has reportedly prompted Ajay Devgn to postpone the release of his upcoming film, “Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha,” which was originally scheduled for July 5th. Official confirmation for the postponement is yet to be announced, but industry sources attribute the decision to the overwhelming performance of “Kalki 2898 AD.”

Directed by the acclaimed Neeraj Pandey, “Kalki 2898 AD” features Tabu as the female lead and boasts music by the renowned M. M. Keeravani. Produced by a collaborative effort of Friday Filmworks, NH Studioz, and Panorama Studios, the film has sparked significant interest among Bollywood analysts. They anticipate “Kalki 2898 AD” to enjoy a lengthy theatrical run, leaving other Bollywood productions with a crucial decision: challenge the box office dominance of “Kalki 2898 AD” or wait for a more opportune release window.
