Today marks the second anniversary of the Balakot airstrike carried out by the Indian Air Force as a response to Pakistan’s Pulwama attack. Pulwama attack resulted in 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel martyred.
Marking the occasion, Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Home Minister Amit Shah saluted the IAF and paid tributes to the CRPF personnel.
“On the anniversary of Balakot Air Strikes, I salute the exceptional courage and diligence of the Indian Air Force. The success of Balakot strikes has shown India’s strong will to act against terrorism. We are proud of our Armed Forces who keep India safe and secure. @IAF_MCC,” Rajnath Singh’s tweet reads.
Union Home Minister saluted the martyred CRPF. In a tweet made in Hindi, he said with Airstrike India has once again made it clear that it’s against terrorism. Under the leadership of Narendra Modi, the security of Jawans is the main goal.
Tracing back the events, on the 14th of February 2019, Terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) based out of Pakistan has attacked vehicles carrying CRPF security personnel.
As a response to this, India carried out the Balakot airstrike. The attack was carried out on February 26, 2019, at around 3.30 am. Indian fighter jets targeted the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror camp in Balakot by crossing the Line of Control (LoC).
