Amyra Dastur who debuted in south with Dhanush’s Anegan, is all excited about sharing screen space with Jackie Chan for the film Kung Fu Yoga, which will be shot at Beijing. The actress speaks about how she was approached for the movie, her character in it, the fitness regime she will follow for the same and what she will ask to the Asian superstar when she meets him in a few days The three-film old actress says she is over the moon and that she couldn’t have asked for more. The lanky beauty has already shot ten days for the movie, and will join the crew for the next schedule soon at Beijing.
Sharing the excitement, Amyra says, “It was my casting director who told me that I was chosen for the film which has Jackie Chan in the lead. Initially I thought he was kidding. My joy had no bounds when I knew that it was for real — I’m going to act with my favourite Jackie Chan — the feeling is beyond words. I feel I’m on top of the world.”
The actress will be playing an Indian girl, and she has to perform lots of action sequences. The makers briefed her on few interesting facets of Indian culture and history to help her relate more to the character. She has already started training in Kung Fu for the movie. “I have been practicing for two hours a day now. The working time will be more once I join the crew in Beijing. I will have a trainer there and will start sessions which I’m looking forward to. Apart from this, pilates, yoga and weight training help me keep fit,” she smiles.
Having said that, Amyra, who debuted opposite Dhanush in Anegan says she had to turn down two Telugu flicks for accepting this film. She was supposed to foray into Tollywood with a film of Puri Jagannadh and another with Manchu Vishnu. But, the actress feels that her decision will pay off and work wonders for her career.
She says she is nervous as well as elated over meeting Jackie in a few days. Quiz her on how she would react when she meets Jackie, quick was the reply, “I’m curious about his reaction when we meet. I want to invite him for dinner at my home and serve him Parsi cuisine,” she says.
