The charges of Private hospitals for Covid-19 treatments are more terrifying than the virus itself in two Telugu states. Already, the Telangana High Court issued notices to private hospitals over excessive charging on Corona medical bills.
So, under these circumstances, AP CM Jagan Mohan Reddy avoided a major uproar by placing the Corona treatment under YSR Arogya Shri in the revised medical policies. He stated that all private and government hospitals should adhere to the latest policy and the patients won’t be charged if they were admitted with COVID-19 infection. On the other side, the private hospitals in Hyderabad rejected the possibility of treating corona patients under Arogya Shri.c
Now, the major question is, to what extent the Arogy Shri will cover the bills. Previously, there were many concerns regarding Arogya Shri. Especially at private hospitals, many people were charged for laboratory tests, medicines, and rooms. Now, the COVID-19 positive patients require critical care and they should be isolated in a separate room with all facilities which could be a major problem for the private hospitals to make the rooms available for free.
If the private hospitals deny covering all kinds of corona treatment bills under Arogya Shri, shifting the patient to a government hospital in that state is risky for many people. So, this very appreciative step taken by the AP CM could’ve elaborated for this single time as the confusion still prevails in many people and hospital authorities as well. If Jagan has intentions to cover each and every rupee that will be charged by the hospital, how strong will it be implemented?
