AMARAVATI: The budget session of Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council is scheduled to start from June 16. Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan will address the inaugural session of both the Houses at 10 AM on June 16. During this session, the state government, which went for a vote-on-account budget in March, will introduce a full budget in the Assembly for its approval. The session gains prominence also for the impending Rajya Sabha elections which will be held on Jun 19.
According to sources, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy would formally take a decision on introducing the budget in the Assembly at a cabinet meeting on June 11.
Highlights of the session:
►After the Governor’s speech, the Business Advisory Committee will convene a meeting and finalise the agenda of topics to be taken up for discussion during the Assembly session.
►As Rajya Sabha elections are scheduled to be held on June 19, all the legislators will have to attend the Assembly session to cast their vote. Keeping this in view, the government has decided to advance the budget session to July 16 to meet this date.
►Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath will introduce the Budget in the Assembly on June 18.
►Besides the budget, the state government will introduce Andhra Pradesh Environmental Protection Bill and some other bills in the House.
► The Chief Minister has ordered two days ago for the preparation of the AP Environmental Protection Bill so as to approve it in the cabinet meeting on June 11 before it is introduced in the Assembly.
►Officials said the government plans to hold the session as short as possible in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak in the state.reak in the state.
