AP to act tough on private colleges

The State government is getting ready to act on the private junior colleges in the State, in an attempt to regularize their activities.

The government had opened a WhatsApp number (9391282578) and separate email (ourbieap@gmail.com) for the people to lodge complaints against the private colleges.

The State government also issued a serious warning to these colleges to display the college name, along with the State government’s permission code and the courses permitted.

If the college boards fail to contain these details, the government would impose severe penalty on these corporate and other private colleges.

Minister for education, Adimulapu Suresh, told media persons on Monday that the government would constitute Intermediate Board at the earliest.

The Board was not constituted in the State after 2913 and the previous government had completely surrendered to the corporate colleges.

He further said that the government would also regulate the fee structure in the private colleges and asked the students or parents to use the email or whatsaap to inform against any private college which violates the rules.

The officials of the education department would start raids on the private colleges and impose penalty if they were found violating the norms.

He insisted on the private colleges having proper playground and fire safety measures.
