The crucial AP cabinet meeting concluded a while ago and the government has come to a conclusion that it cannot build the dream capital city with a budget of Rs 1.10 lakh crore.
The YSRCP government claimed that the previous TDP government ignored the recommendations of Sivaramakrishna committee and appointed Narayana committee. The latter committee wanted to build an unimaginable capital with a astounding budget of Rs 1.10 lakh crore Rupees and based on it thousands of acres of land was pooled.
Speaking to the media post cabinet meeting, minister Nani said, the TDP government had spent only Rs 5,400 crore in the last five years and the current government is paying Rs 575 crore per year just as interest on it. One lakh crore would be a huge amount and just imagine how much of money is required for welfare schemes and irrigation projects. Even if the government decides to go ahead with capital construction, thousands of crore of Rupee will have to be paid as interest.
Further Nani said that the state government did not take any decision so far on capital and if it takes, it will not hesitate to reveal it to the public. To study the GN Rao committee and Boston Consultancy report, a high-power committee will be appointed which will have ministers, experts and senior IAS officers.
Adding more the state government will look into all the issues and then only will make an announcement on capital. On the farmers protest, Nani added that Jagan understands the farmers’ concern and YSRCP will always stands by them and they will get complete justice for donating their land.
