The first edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Utsavam awards ceremony began in Hyderabad on Sunday was a star-studded affair with who’s who of the South Indian film industry gracing this glittering event. Memorable thing for Telugus is our pride Baahubali won six awards in Tamil section.
As all we know, Baahubali: The Beginning was made as a Telugu, Tamil bilingual with same title. Yesterday, IIFA presented awards in Tamil and Malayalam languages. Baahubali dominating show continued till the end.
The magnum opus film won the awards in the categories of Best Film, Best Director (SS Rajamouli), Best Supporting Actor Male (Sathyaraj), Best Supporting Actor Female (Ramya Krishna), Best Playback Singer Male (Haricharan Sesh for the song ‘Manohari’), Best Playback Singer Female (Geetha Madhuri for the song ‘Jeeva Nadhi’).
Telugu and Kannada awards will be presented today and no doubt Baahubali is going to win as many as awards in Telugu section.
Over Rs.1 crore has been raised through the event for the victims of flood-ravaged Chennai as part of their campaign ‘Be One For Chennai’. Today is the last day of IIFA Utsavam.
