Supreme Court gave a big shock to BJP veteran leaders LK Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi, Kalyan Singh and Union Minister Uma Bharti.

The court ordered for the conduct of fresh trial of all the leaders the criminal conspiracy they hatched in the demolition of the 16th-century Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, the Supreme Court ruled today.

Judges have also ordered daily hearings to ensure a verdict is delivered within two years. The leaders were charged with making inflammatory speeches that motivated lakhs of right-wing volunteers or karsevaks to pull down the mosque in 1992. The BJP leaders will be tried in Lucknow.

The investigating agency CBI argued that it has evidence that the BJP leaders, who made their speeches on a stage near the mosque on the day that it was razed, were part of the deadly plan to bring down the Masjid.

In 2010, the Allahabad High Court disagreed with the CBI about criminal conspiracy charges for the BJP veterans and gave clean chit. Then, the CBI had appealed against that decision in the top court.
