Notwithstanding the economic gloom, downfall of rupee and high inflation, Balapur Laddu, which is considered as very sacred in social and political cricles, has bagged a record price. Surpassing a previous record price of Rs 7.50 Lakhs last year, this year the Laddu has been sold for Rs 9.26 Lakhs.
In an auction conducted by the Balapur Ganesh Utsav committee on Wednesday morning, chairman of TKR institutions and TDP leader Teegala Krishna Reddy has bagged the Laddu in the auction.
Speaking to media, Teegala Krishna Reddy said, “It’s an honour and privilege to win the auction and bagging Laddu. It’s laudable that the money got through auction has been utilized for the development of Balapur village. I hope the blessings of Ganesh are with me.”
Krishna Reddy said that he will be distributing the Laddu to TDP president Chandra Babu Naidu and other TDP leaders.
