Ban For ‘Avatar 2’ In Kerala! Why?

Within 15 days we will get to see the biggest motion picture event in the world i.e ‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’. The advance bookings got opened last week and the reception has been fantastic throughout the country. The first part shattered every record in Hollywood and it took ‘Avengers Endgame’ to have a second release in 2019 to cross the collections of ‘Avatar’ which arrived back in 2009. After 13 years, the sequel to ‘Avatar’ is hitting the screens and everyone are expecting the film to be a massive hit at the box office.

The makers have released two trailers already and they were wonderful. People who saw the visual feast were left speechless and everyone across the country are excited to watch the movie as early as they can. There are predictions that around 150 crores are expected from just Telugu and Tamil speaking states alone. A lot of theatres are getting blocked for ‘Avatar 2’ across the country but one state decided to stop the movie from getting released in theatres.

It is none other than Kerala. Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) have given an ultimatum that they would not let ‘Avatar 2’ release as they are demanding 65% of the revenue while the rule is just 50-50 till date. The team of ‘Avatar 2’ were ready to 55% to the distributors but they are not agreeing to that and demanding this rule should be applied for at least two weeks after the release.

They blocked 400 screens that were allotted to run ‘Avatar 2’. There will not be any problem if things settle down within a few days but the Kerala movie lovers may miss out on a gigantic visual extravaganza if things didn’t fall in place. Threatening an international production house like this is quite rare but the Kerala distributors seem to have taken this step because of the craze for this magnum opus.
