Normally, when some issue crops up in the Old City, usually the firebrand MLA of Goshamahal, Raja Singh rushes to the spot and takes the police to task. But, when the issue of some MIM backers trying to grab the temple lands in Uppuguda happened, BJP state president Bandi Sanjay rushed to the spot much before any other.
It was a mercurial decision and caught not just the police, but even the BJP leaders off the guard. Before they could realise what was happening, Bandi Sanjay, who was in the city, drove to the disputed spot. The police had tough time controlling the crowd that gathered on Sanjay’s arrival. Not only did he prove himself as a man of action, but also showed to the people of Telangana that the Old City is at the top of the priority list for the BJP. With Sanjay taking the lead role, Raja Singh had to play the second fiddle.
With this one decision, Bandi Sanjay has sent several messages. Firstly, he sent the signal to the party workers that he would rush to the trouble spots and that he is willing to fight. Secondly, he sent a message to the TRS government that he is not going to let up. Thirdly, he sent a message to Raja Singh that he is all set to pip him past in protecting Hindu rights.
