Beauty with Brains-the Road to Stardom

Indian women have won international accolades in beauty pageants across the world. With about thirty-four such international titles to their credit, they made India the second most successful participant at beauty pageants. 
The run of the Indian women in the various beauty pageants have been filled with victories. They have won 11 main title crowns, out of the thirty four titles. Main title crown have been won in all the prominent international beauty pageants like Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Earth and Miss Asia Pacific International. In fact, India has been the country to bag the coveted title of Miss World fivetimes, with Reita Faria being the first Indian woman to win the title in 1966, followed by Aishwarya Rai in 1994, Diana Hayden in 1997, Yukta Mookhey in 1999 and Priyanka Chopra in 2000. Indian womenhave been crowned twice as Miss Universe with Sushmita Sen as the first Indian woman to win the crown in 1994, followed by Lara Dutta in 2000. Indian women also made their mark in the Miss Asia
 
Pacific International, which is the first and the oldest beauty in Asia. The Indian flag flew high in this pageant with Zeenat Aman as the winner in 1970, followed by Tara Anna Fonseca in 1973 and Dia Mirza in 2000. Miss Earth is another crown that Nicole Faria won in 2010.

It was in the year 2000 that India won all the three major International Beauty pageant awards after Priyaka Chopra won the Miss World title followed by Miss Asia Pacific title that was won by Dia Mirza inthe same year. For all these beauty with brains, the Miss India pageant was the stepping stone for their success. This pageant celebrates its golden jubilee in 2013. On this special occasion, Pond’s has collaborated with the pageant to give Pond’s Femina Miss India 2013. This event will see seven city pageants to audition the contestants from all over India. Auditions have already been conducted in Pune, Goa, Indore and Bangalore. January 2013 will see the auditions in Chandigarh, Delhi and Kolkata. The winners of the city pageants reach the grand finale of Pond’s Femina Miss India 2013.
