Bhaagamathie: Heads for First Clean Hit of 2018

Anushka’s “Bhaagamathie” was simply unstoppable at box office in its first weekend. After taking a sensational opening (about 12 Cr gross), the film had a rock solid hold on the Saturday and the Sunday to collect 26 Cr at worldwide box office in its opening weekend (only 3 days). The collections are spectacular considering that they are registered for a heroine-centric film.

In US, Bhaagamathie had a very good run in the first weekend despite the record breaking performance of Padmaavat. The Anushka starrer raked in about $710K (3-day weekend) whereas the historical Hindi film collected close to $5M (4-day weekend).

Thanks to the phenomenal box office numbers, Bhaagamathie has already recovered more than 75% of the investment in the first weekend. Trade predicts the horror thriller to emerge the first clean hit of 2018.
