It is known that the Brazilian government which was supposed to buy vaccine doses from Bharat Biotech, which was behind India’s indigenous vaccine Covaxin suspended the deal to procure the jabs.As the decision was taken after allegations were leveled aginst Brazilian President, the Hyderabad based biotech company responded to the controversy with a statement.
The biotech farm said that in the due process to apply for the regulatory approvals, all the steps were followed and no wrong step was taken in this process.
The statement issued by the biotech company said that the meetings between the two parties, i.e, the Health Ministry of Brazil and Bharat Biotech started during the November of last year for the first time and the approch to make the contracts and to seek regulatory approvals was made step by step.
The company added that, so far neither money was recived from the Brazilian government in the form of advance, nor the vaccine doses were exported to the country.Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro is accused of making a quick deal with the vaccine manufacturer even before the drug regulator gave its nod for the emergency use of the vaccine doses.
Brazil made a deal to procure 20 million doses of vaccine. Citing the quoted price is high, the opposition party became critical of the President and an investigation has also started in this regard.
