BJP MP Tirath Singh Rawat is the new Uttarakhand CM

BJP‘s Lok Sabha MP from Garhwal ‘Tirath Singh Rawat’ is now the new chief minister of Uttarakhand. He was appointed on Wednesday after Trivendra Singh Rawat resigned as the chief minister on Tuesday.

Trivendra Singh Rawat’s decision of resignation came after he met with party president J.P. Nadda Monday night. He met Governor Baby Rani Maurya at Raj Bhavan and submitted his resignation.

The newly appointed CM Tirath Singh Rawat (56), who has been an MLA in the past, also served as the Uttarakhand BJP chief from 2013 to 2015. The decision of making Rawat as CM was taken at the legislative party meeting of the BJP in Dehradun. H

Meanwhile, the former CM said he was happy that Tirath Singh Rawat has been given this opportunity by the party. It should be noted, the BJP had won the 2017 assembly elections in Uttarakhand with a huge majority, securing 57 seats in the 70-member House.
