‘Body Worn Cameras’ for traffic Cops

Inspiring with technological development, Hyderabad Traffic Police would shortly acquire 100 ‘Body Worn Cameras’ to be utilize during enforcement work under its ‘Smart Policing’ initiative.Currently, Traffic cops are using four wearable video cameras on a trial and error basis. 
Orders have been put for 100 more advanced GPRS-enabled body wear cameras. Sub-inspectors (in traffic police) will be using them by March end, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Jitender, told reporters . 
Instructing on the system, he told the high resolution audio-visuals will be recorded in the camera and preserved in a memory card. Feeds can be viewed live from the police control room via 4G technology. This would ease socially desirable conduct. 
Use of wearable video cameras can bring significant well being to relation between police and the civilians, he said.Each body camera costs Rs 1.5 lakh and is functional during night as well.
Within few minutes of “Body Worn Cameras” scheme from Telangana State Government, opposition leaders pointed out that Government is wasting the money, But Government officially saying that it would be most useful for peoples safety.
