YSRCP member and Narasapuram MP Raghu Ramakrishna Raju filed a bail cancellation petition in the CBI court, requesting the cancellation of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s bail, in the illegal assets case. Shortly after the petition was admitted by the CBI court, RRR was arrested by the AP CID, and there are several claims about RRR having been tortured while in CID custody.
On the other hand, the CBI court gave several chances to the CBI to file a counter-petition to the one that RRR filed. However, the CBI failed to do this three times so far. The CBI court has given one last chance to the CBI to file a counter-petition, by June 1st. Given that there are just 3 more days left for that, this issue has become one of great political interest to everyone.
If the CBI has to file a counter-petition, it needs to get orders to do so from the Centre. Given that the YSRCP government has good relations with the BJP at the centre, this is not an easy task for the CBI. If the CBI manages to file a counter-petition by June 1st, then it means that the Center has given a green signal. On the contrary, if the CBI doesn’t do so, then it would mean that the YSRCP has stronger connections in Delhi than anticipated.
