In the last eight years in office, the union government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party is focusing on giving a digital push. Going for demonetisation and encouraging digital payments is one such effort. As a result, UPI payments increased in India and outside India as well.
India signed MoUs with many nations and more than 10 nations are using UPIs for digital payments. People living in Singapore, UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, France, BENELUX markets – Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg – and Switzerland can use the UPI payments facility.
Now the Indian government wants to make India a developed nation with the help of technology. At an event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India will be a developed nation by 2047 with the help of technologies like 5G and Artificial Intelligence.
A webinar was held titled “Unleashing the Potential: Ease of Living Using Technology”. In his address, the Prime Minister said that India is using technology to ease the issues faced by taxpayers and that emerging technologies like AI and 5G will revolutionalize things in the future.
“We want to reduce the compliance cost of small businesses. Can you (industry) formulate a list of unnecessary compliances that can be pruned? We have finished 40,000 compliances,” the Prime Minister said at the event. “We used technology to make the tax system faceless, and to address problems faced by taxpayers,” he added.
It is known that the union government had brought digital services in many schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and others. By entering the Aadhar numbers the beneficiaries can get the benefits of the schemes.
