No matter what people say, one needs to accept the fact that the film industry is male-dominated and there are no two ways about it. We are not just talking about Tollywood but the entire film industry across the globe.
While a few actresses rise above the regular norms in the industry and make a special name for themselves every now and then, most of the other women are confined to being eye candies on and off the screen.
Even good actresses struggle to find challenging or at least meatier roles that have bigger screen time in films. We usually see the roles heroines have in big hero movies. They are so pointless on many occasions.
Even off the screen, people often ask the hero about movies, their character, the movie business and many other issues but female actresses are confined to basic questions like ‘How was it working with this hero?’ or rumors regarding her personal life.
This is the reality and it has been proven once again during a recent press meet of ‘Gaami’. The movie became successful and the intriguing concept was praised by many. The media questioned Vishwak Sen and the director a lot regarding the movie, challenges, the origin of the script, producers, the response from the public and many more.
But they did not care to ask a single question to the female lead Chandini Chowdary who sitting in between both the hero and the director. Chandini was quick to express her displeasure over this common phenomenon.
She had a few sarcastic replies even before anyone asked and stated that there wouldn’t be any questions for the heroine anyway. It is high time that the media needs to have a retrospection and change their ways when it comes to actresses.
