Chandrababu condemns Ongole Police brutality

A few days ago, more than Rs. 5 Crores were found in a car that was leaving to Chennai from Andhra Pradesh. When the police got hold of this car, three out of five passengers were caught, and arrested. The car had a Tamil Nadu registration, and it was observed that there was Minister Balineni Srinivas Reddy’s sticker on the back of the car, but the Minister said that he had nothing to do with the car or what was in it.

Two other people were arrested recently by the Ongole Police, for posting on social media about the car and the money in it. They are Vadella Sandeep Kumar and Thottempudi Chandrasekhar, and the Ongole Police who arrested them have reportedly tortured them physically.

TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu condemned the Ongole Police for their behavior, and even wrote a letter to the SP of Prakasam district, criticising the same. He said that it was unlawful of the police department to physically torture those two individuals for simply positng their views on social media. He said that many newspapers and tv channels in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have also done the same.

Chandrababu Naidu also asserted that the Ongole police have denied these two individuals to express their views, and their basic freedom of expression under Article 19 of the Constitution of India. He also pointed out that the police department had not filed an FIR against these individuals until July 17th, despite arresting and torturing them on July 16th.

In his letter to the SP, Chandrababu added that thorough investigation of the matter should be done, and that these two individuals should be served proper justice.
