With regards to the 3 Capital issue, the most affected is undoubtedly TDP, especially Chandrababu. It was during the TDP’s regime that Amaravati was chosen as the Capital of Andhra Pradesh, and it was Chandrababu who took the lands from thousands of farmers, promising them a formidable capital.
However, after the general elections last year, Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSRCP won with a fat majority, and took hold of Andhra Pradesh. During his campaigns, Jagan maintained and promised the people of Amaravati that he would make sure that Amaravati would be turned into a great capital. Even other members of YSRCP maintained the same thing.
After coming to power though, things changed, and the YSRCP party has been parading the idea of 3 Capitals for the longest time. With the governor’s approval, the party is now speeding up the process of shifting the capital of Visakhapatnam. The government also doesn’t seem to care about the hues and cries of the thousands of farmers who gave away their lands in Amaravati, and the government is also the least bit bothered about the several objections it’s been receiving ever since it proposed this preposterous idea.
Nara Chandrababu Naidu has now challenged Jagan to cancel his government right away and go for re-elections. Through his Zoom app press meet, Chandrababu also said that these re-elections would show Jagan if the people of Amaravati support his ridiculous idea of 3 Capitals, or if they support Amaravati as the sole capital.
While it’s a little bit stunning to see that the ex-CM is challenging the current CM for re-elections, the fact that Jagan and YSRCP have no regards for what the people want is undeniable. The YSRCP is more bothered about what they want, rather than what the people want. The government should really re-evaluate its nonsensical decisions before more damage is done to the state.
