After the dominating era of NTR and ANR, Krishna and Sobhan Babu reigned the film industry with numerous blockbusters and milestone movies. Though Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Nagarjuna and Venkatesh belong to the same time frame, their respective hits and flops pushed Chiru to top and that was unanimous, which need not be written anywhere.
Chiranjeevi enjoyed the super stardom as top hero of Tollywood for more than 20 years and one would not expect to see different equations during the last stage of their acting careers. Nagarjuna has surpassed Chiranjeevi with his last three blockbusters films with unbelievable collections compared to other three heroes of his time.
Nagarjuna delivered Manam, Soggade Chinni Nayana and Oopiri from three different genres and each one of them is a blockbuster. Not just that, his devotional films like Shirdi Sai Baba, Sri Rama Dasu, Annamayya are definitely a tough zoner for a Megastar like Chiru, which were done with ease by Nagarjuna. His consistency and out of the box scripts made his the top one inarguably.
Balakrishna though suffered good number of disasters for a long period, his comeback films like Simha and Legend have earth shattering collections. Though he has to taste flops now and then, he is consistent enough to give atleast one blockbuster in two years. So, Balakrishna is not in the first place, but he is not the last too.
Venkatesh slowed down from last two years, but his Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, Drishyam and Gopala Gopala would not let him go off the spotlight. Venkatesh is sure to give decent hits and surprise hits with a good choice of stories often. So, Venkatesh too is not the last among ‘the four’.
Megastar Chiranjeevi’s guest appearances in Magadheera and Bruce lee could not be counted in his credit as his last movie was some 9 years ago. Politics and no proper subject for his comeback left him laggin behind all his contemperory heroes. Chiranjeevi lost his place for Nagarjuna while Balayya and Venkatesh too surpassed him as they still act in films.
The young set of heroes have taken the films to next level already and Chiru needs to pickup more movies and more hits, otherwise he will be considered retired as one ordinary hero. Is it possible for Megastar who is dilly dallying to finalize his 150th movie script from last two years?
