Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy became the first ever Congress CM to question the decision made by party high-command before media. Ever since he opposed the decision of bifurcation, Kiran became a lead man for Seemandhra Congress MLAs and even MPs. So where is he heading now?
Though CM Kiran has earlier condemned reports that he is going to float a new party to fight Congress, his colleagues are now pressuring him to start Seemandhra-Congress immediately. With CWC decision favouring Telangana, the prospects of Congress MLAs and MPs in Seemandhra region have turned bleak. If they could come up with a new ‘congress’ in no time, then some MLAs will have the chance of winning again, and a section of Seemandhra MLAs are convincing Kiran about this. Already MLA Veerasiva Reddy confirmed earlier that a new party will be floated if Congress high command fails to roll back its decision. A source adds, already the new party is registered and ground work is done, only a formal launch awaits.
However, Kiran’s confidence looks at Telugu Basha Sabha the other day is giving rise to speculation that Sonia Gandhi is unlikely to proceed with bifurcation decision. Whatever it may be, CM Kiran is of late trying to emerge as a champion for Seemandhra people in the present situation.
