According to the latest research conducted at the University of Sunderland, the way humans interact with robots will change drastically in the future and humans could soon be having sex with robots by 2070, thanks to ‘sex tech’ that will make ‘mannequin partners come to life’.
This phenomenon, according to the studies, is called Robophilia, and even though it is alien to the mankind at the moment, it will become a reality within fifty years as attitudes evolve with technology and it may even lead to people falling in love and have sexual relationships with robots, their virtual reality partners.
“As virtual reality becomes more realistic and immersive and is able to mimic and even improve on the experience of sex with a human partner; it is conceivable that some will choose this in preference to sex with a less than perfect human being,” says Dr Driscoll who conducts research at the University of Sunderland.
