Yesterday, the results for the MLC polls which were held on December 27 in Ranga Reddy and Mahaboobnagar, Nalgonda and Khammam were declared, and as a ray of hope to strengthen its roots in Telangana, the Congress party won the Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar-2 seats.
Since the TPCC President Uttam Kumar Reddy and the legislature party leader K Jana Reddy hail from Nalgonda, the party took these polls prestigiously and its candidate Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy won the battle with a record majority of 193 votes.
However, senior TRS leader and the party’s MLC Rajeshwara Reddy was quick to allege that Komatireddy bribed the voters with 139 brand new Maruti Swift cars and 10 tulas of gold to lady MPTCs and ZPTCs to win the elections.
On the other hand, Congress leaders from the district refuted the TRS leader’s comments and said that they will make Komatireddy to resign from his post if Rajesheshwara Reddy proves his allegations. Meanwhile, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy termed his victory as a `New Year gift’ to Sonia Gandhi.
