With the Telangana government announcing lockdown till March 31st, there is a panic situation all over the state. Cashing this lockdown, the vegetable vendors have hiked the prices like anything. One kilo of tomatoes are being sold at Rs 100 while green chilies are being sold at Rs 160.
Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and DGP held a press meet short while ago and in this the media persons have asked about the hike in prices. As a routine statement, CS Somesh said they would certainly take action against people who are selling vegetable and other essential items at high prices. But they did not reveal any concrete plan to tackle this.
These kind situation repeats quite often in India. The government just confines to statements rather than real action. Ultimately it’s the people who are the loss.
