The CBI court has rejected the memo filed by YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy for permitting him to appear in the court in person on June 25 when his remand ends and not through video conferencing. The court has clarified that there was no need for Jagan to personally appear before the court and said he would be heard only through video conferencing.
It may be recalled that when Jagan was last produced before the court, the police department brought him in an ordinary police van instead of the bullet-proof it has used earlier. Jagan has taken a serious objection to it and said despite being an MP and president of a political party, he was treated like an ordinary criminal though he was still an accused and no charge against him was proved yet.
It may also be mentioned here that the newly-elected YSR Congress MLAs have alleged that there was a plot to kill Jagan. The police have proposed to produce Jagan through video conferencing in view of the threat perception.
It was being said that Jagan wanted to appear in the court as he wanted to present his case effectively if he could get an opportunity to appear in person in the court. He would have got publicity while boarding the vehicle at the Chanchalguda jail and at the court. He also would have used the opportunity to say a few words to the media.
