‘Devudu’ insulted by ‘Devudu Chesina Manushulu’

Movie lovers has seen many beautiful devotional flicks in which Gods are glorified. Even in social films to drive home a message strongly film makers used to include the characters of Gods so that what ever message they want to communicate to the movie lovers or society will be driven strongly in their minds. However many felt Puri Jagannath insulted even Gods by casting comedians Brahmanandam as Lord Vishnu and Kovai Sarala as Goddess Lakshmi. This did not gel with many movie lovers and general public as they felt that by casting them in the roles of Divine characters, Puri degraded Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi, hurting the sentiments of many. Even while viewing the film many got the feeling that Vishnu and Lakshmi are just comedians and not creators which was not the case in earlier films.
True film makers earlier showed God of Death Yama as comedian but they never stooped to such a level casting Brahmanandam ,Ali, MS.Narayana or Venu Madhav in those roles. All such roles are played by stalwarts like Satyanarayana, Mohan Babu and others. Even now versatile stars like Prabhu, Srihari and Shayaji Shinde are turning yamas. If we analyse earlier trend be it ‘Kannayya Krishnayya’ where Rajendra Prasad was seen in the role of Lord Krishna, film makers has taken care so that the role will not be shown as comedian. All this resulted in ‘Devudu’ feeling insulted by Puri’s ‘Devudu Chesina Manushulu’. Movie lovers and analysts feel that God’s curse and his wrath effected the performance of ‘Devudu Chesina Manushulu’ at the box office.
