Dhruva: Avg or Hit or Super Hit

Dhruva’s story has come to its end. Even though the film’s collections kicked off on a dull note on December 9th, positive reviews and good word of mouth helped the movie register decent numbers in the long run, leaving the trade pundits surprised.

Dhruva’s successful overseas run was a record in Ram Charan’s career. The film is Charan’s first ever million dollar feat and it went on to gross nearly $1.5 million, with 25 screens being added in the 5th week.

Due to its genre, many thought that Dhruva would not even cross the 50 crore share mark in its full run. However, the film went on to collect nearly 56 crores from Andhra, Ceded and Nizam, bringing cheers to many.

Unfortunately, Dhruva is just 4 crores short of getting the hit status as the film’s theatrical rights are valued at 60 crores. Still, Dhruva managed to brave the demonetization effect and the initial backlash from mass movie lovers.

In its final run, Dhruva grossed 90 crores and in Nizam the movie broke even with a 15.35 crores share and earned nearly 2 crores profits for its buyers. However, the movie has made some losses for its Ceded buyers and recovered only 6.60 crores on its 9 crores investment.

In Vizag, Dhruva entered profits by collecting a share of 5.25 crores. From both the Telugu states, Dhruva has collected 40.5 crore where as it notched up 6.8 crores from Karnataka. Finally, Dhruva’s box-office result can be termed as ‘Above Average’.
