Earlier today, the makers of Prabhas’s Adipurush officially announced that Bollywood superstar Saif Ali Khan is playing the demon king Lankesh (Raavan) in the film.
But Saif was not always the front-runner to bag the role, say our sources.
Apparently, the makers of Adipurush had initially approached Ajay Devgan, who is playing a key role in Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’, for Raavan’s role in the film. However, Ajay Devgan politely turned down the offer, citing his tight schedule as the reason.
The makers contemplated other options and finally roped in Saif Ali Khan for the menacing role in Adipurush.
Ajay Devgan has to first wrap up his portion in RRR before going ahead with his other commitments and that could possibly be the reason why he opted not to be a part of Adipurush.
Coming to Adipurush, the film will be shot in 3D format and the movie unit will commence in January next year. The film will be hitting the theaters in 2022. Bollywood actress Kiara Advani is in pole position to land the role of Seetha in the film.
