Minister Konda Surekha recently found herself in the middle of a controversy after making comments about actress Samantha and her divorce from actor Naga Chaitanya. Her remarks sparked backlash, leading many to criticize the way she spoke about their personal matters. As per the social media viral post, in response, Surekha has retracted her statement and issued an apology.
As per the tweet going viral, Minister Surekha explained that her comments were not meant to hurt Samantha but were intended to question the attitudes of some leaders towards women. She acknowledged that Samantha’s journey of self-reliance is admirable and said that she never intended to offend her. Surekha posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “My comments are meant to question a leader’s belittling attitude towards women, not to hurt your sentiments @Samanthaprabhu2. If my words hurt you or your fans, I unconditionally retract my comments.”
Samantha, on the other hand, responded to the situation with a statement of her own. While she did not directly name the minister, she expressed her disappointment over public comments about her personal life. Samantha emphasized that divorce is a deeply personal matter and urged people, including public figures, to refrain from speculating or making it part of political discussions.
Samantha stated, “It takes courage and strength to be a woman and face challenges in the entertainment industry. As a public figure, your words carry weight, and I request you to be responsible and respectful when discussing personal matters. My divorce was mutual and amicable, and I would like to keep it private.”
