AP Capital, Amaravati is witnessing protests by farmers and women over the last few days. Joining the voice of farmers, Secretariat employees too urged the state government to rethink about the proposal to shift capital. Employees union on Thursday met at the third block of Secretariat and discussed about the capital row.
A few employees talked to the media after the meeting expressed their agony. “The state government must take the opinion of all the political parties, people and employees regarding the capital change. If successive governments change capital as their wish, ultimately employees will struggle. From Hyderabad, we were brought here on war-foot basis and we took loans for new residences construction. Now changing capital will push us into financial and psychological worries,” said an employee.
Another employee said, “Capital change is seriously taking a toll us and we too are in a suspense so as what could we hear every other day. We bought homes in Amaravati selling our farms lands and other assets. If capital is shifted, who will buy our homes and we will need to spend extra in other place. Our kids are studying in Hyderabad and to travel from Amaravati to Hyderabad is easy. But if Vizag is made, the travel time and expenses go up.”
In one voices, employees said that they are government workers, they are unable to come out and raise their voice. The government should take our views regarding capital and then announce its decision.
