The Madiyaon police in Mumbai registered an FIR against leading Bollywood stars Ranbir Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar on 19th September for criminal breach of trust and forgery for endorsing a popular shopping portal which has been allegedly ‘cheating’ its customers.
Rajat Bansal, a lawyer from Keshav Nagar in Mumbai, registered an FIR against the stars and the directors of the online shopping portal under IPC sections 406 and 420. Rajat, in his FIR, alleged that he had purchased a 40-inch LED TV from the e-commerce site on 23rd August. Rajat also claimed that he had paid Rs 29,999 using his debit card.
However, the product was never sent to him by the portal even after 10 days, but he was only sent the bill. Upon realizing that he has been cheated by the company and both the Bollywood stars who endorsed it, Rajat alleged that people like him are falling in trap of the site.
Of late, many such consumers have not been thinking twice in complaining against the stars, if the products they endorsed did not satisfy them.
