Friday 13th – Disastrous Day For Tollywood

Friday the 13th is considered as an ill-fated day in western superstition. But it looks like this particular day affected Tollywood also, when almost six Telugu movies have bitten dust after they got released on Friday, 13 September 2013.

A bunch of Telugu flicks like Adivi Sesh’s Kiss, multi-starrer Kameena, Ravi Babu’s Needa, Suman’s Gandikotalo and flicks like Na Saami Ranga, Putukku Jara Jara Dubukku Mey have hit screens on September 13th the other day. Reports have that almost all of them have met with disastrous fate on first show itself. This is not because of non-availability of theatres or the growing protests in Seemandhra region. Poor content of this bunch is actually said to be giving headache to audiences.

Kiss managed to get good attention due to heavy promotion, while Na Saami Ranga used Pawan’s ‘na saami ranga’ dialogue from Gabbar Singh to grab eyeballs. But none of them lived up to the hype. Cine observers are however saying that one should not blame ‘Friday the 13th’ but the poor content of those films, as they would have flopped on any other day too.
