Tollywood hero Udayakiran is no more. The chubby hero who was claimed as dream boy of young girls when his career started, has ended his life by committing suicide.
He has hanged himself after Sunday midnight in his residence at Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. Before proceeding with hasty decision Uday has called up his friends and told them about his decision. Tensed friends, un-answered when they called him back has ringed up neighbors to check with Uday’s status. By the time they were alerted the situation has gone worse. He died while rushing to the Apollo hospital in Jubilee Hills. Shocked friends of UdayKiran in tollywood Srikanth, Tarun, Aryan Rajesh rushed to the hospital.
He made his Tollywood debut under his mentor, cinematographer turned film director Teja in the year 2000 with the film Chitram, in which he played the lead character of a 17 year old. The film went on to become a trend setter. This film, followed by two others, Nuvvu Nenu and Manasantha Nuvve, made him among the very few actors in Telugu cinema to deliver three consecutive successful fims. His performance as a hot-blooded youngster in Nuvvu Nenu won him the Filmfare Best Actor Award (Telugu) in the year 2001. In his fourth film, Kalusukovalani, he displayed dancing skills in the songs, “Udayinchina” and “Cheliya Cheliya”. While in his fifth film, ‘Sreeram’ he ventured into an action oriented story of a youngster aspiring to become a top cop.
In 2005, he ventured into Tamil with the film Poi directed by K.Balachander. He then did two more films, Vambu Sandai and Pen Singam in Tamil, the latter being the story penned by M. Karunanidhi, which did moderately well at the box office. Uday, born on 26th June 1980 has married to Nishitha on 24th October 2012.
