Gandhi Jayanthi not a national holiday?

Can anyone imagine working on Gandhi Jayanthi, birthday of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi? Even a small kid knows that Independence Day (Aug 15), Republic Day (Jan 26) and Gandhi Jayanthi (Oct2 ) are national holidays and any organisation which functions on this day will be punished severely.
However for the BJP ruled state of Goa, Gandhi Jayanthi is not a national holiday. In a shocker Gandhi Jayanthi disappeared from the Goan state holiday list. This triggered huge protests not only in Goa but also in other parts of the country.
Goan Government later rectified the mistake by issuing a written clarification stating ““The official calendars of the government have already listed Gandhi Jayanti (October 15, 2015) as a holiday.”
Even CM Lakshmikanth Parsekar said “We haven’t scrapped Gandhi Jayanti,” This triggered severe protest as Congress party cried foul alleging BJP is trying to erase the memories of Gandhi in its attempt to saffronise.
Meanwhile RSS which earlier tried to turn Gandhi’s killer Nathuram Godse as hero, supported the move to scrap Oct 2 as holiday stating fewer holidays will improve efficiency. This is sure to create another controversy and Congress is gearing up to question PM Narendra Modi on this issue.
Already Congress is planning to corner BJP government over Rahul Gandhi’s security check. This will surely boomerang on BJP government.
