The Congress party which contested the local body elections in the Greater Hyderabad region with an aim to leave a mark suffered a most embarrassing and humiliating defeat.
The party once had a good hold on the state in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. After Andhra Pradesh was divided into two states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Congress started to lose its base in both the states.
The people in Andhra Pradesh are not happy with the way Congress carved Telangana out of Andhra. Congress failed to cash the image of granting the state. Since 2014, after the bifurcation, Congress started to lose the polls.
Talking about Congress’s poor performance, Malkajgiri MP and Pradesh Congress Committee working president A Revanth Reddy surprised everyone by holding the media responsible for this.
The reason he gave for blaming the media for Congress suffering a loss made many heads turn. Revanth reportedly said that the media has worked against their party by holding out to TRS and BJP.
On the other hand, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Uttam Kumar Reddy has sung the same tune of announcing resignation taking responsibility for the loss.
If the Congress party accepts Uttam Kumar Reddy’s resignation, the party will become even weaker without a strong leader. Before the elections, many Congress leaders shift their loyalty to the BJP.
