2020 began with a bang for the Telugu film industry. The US market which faced slump last year got reinvigorated thanks to the two biggies that released this Sankranthi season. Telugu film lovers have shown their power again.

The overall haul these two biggies have gained in the two days exhibit the power of the fans of our big stars and big directors.

Superstar Mahesh Babu’s fans and Allu Arjun’s fans and director Trivikram’s fans have come in droves to watch the Sankranthi entertainers – “Sarileru Neekevvaru” and “Ala Vaikunthapurramloo” as together these films have collected nearly $3 million in just two days. After a long time, the USA box-office for the Telugu films has seen such a josh.

But producers and distributors should not turn greedy. Both of them have almost killed the golden goose of the overseas market with their unrealistic approach.

Producers demanded huge money for the rights from distributors and the distributors, in turn, went hiking the ticket prices close to $30 per ticket (during premieres) and this made people skip the movies in the theaters. Instead, they looked towards Amazon Prime for the latest releases.

Now that the market has been revived, the producers should not turn greedy.
