Heavy rains hit Mumbai and according to weather reports it is the worst rain since July 2005 floods, which is going to get worse. Mumbai citizens are advised to stay home unless it is really necessary as it rained nine times more than the average, in just three hours.

Flights too were delayed due to poor visibility and schools were shut down until situation gets under control. Constant downpour left waterlogging in many low lying areas of Mumbai, in which five areas witnessed more than 200mm of rainfall.

Already, the government alerted teams of the National Disaster Response Force for rescue operations. People were asked to stay away from beaches, which may affect Ganesh ritual immersion also. Muddy water suspended the visibilty of roads and citizens are advised to be extra cautious about potholes and uncovered drains.
