While the craze for selfies is not going to die soon, people are dying because of it. In the world selfie-related deaths, India witnessed highest number of cases in 2015.
A report claimed that 27 deaths due to selfie were reported in 2015 across the world. However most of the cases were from India. Three college students while trying to click picture in front of speeding train were killed in January 2015 near Mathura.
Seven youngsters died in March while celebrating birthday, click of picture led to boat capsize. A Japanese tourist died in Agra in September after slipping from staircase of Taj Mahal while taking selfie.
An engineering student of Tamil Nadu died while taking selfie on a rock which slipped into 60-foot ravine. Two students, in Rajkot, died by drowning in Narmada while trying to capture pictures.
The selfie deaths continued to fear in 2016 also with death of two people near Bandra-Worli Sea Link by drowning. Mumbai cops, in the wake of rising death cases related to selfies, were forced to identify No Selfie Zones in the tinsel town.
