We are living in the 21st century but still the society is yet to accept inter caste marriages. Usually, couples coming from different backgrounds will be judged and targeted. Even family members won’t accept such marriages and we see many honor killings in such cases.
Yet again, another spine-chilling honour killing came to light in which the couple was brutally killed and dumped into a river. The case came to light when the boy’s family filed a police complaint saying that their boy is missing. They also mentioned the love story of the boy and the police dug details into the case.
Going into detail, this happened in Madhya Pradesh. Shivani Tomar (18) and Radheshyam Tomar (21) are believed to have been killed by the girl’s family over a love angle. Later they were reportedly thrown into the Chambal river which is known as a home to crocodiles.
As Radheshyam Tomar is not in touch for a few days, his family moved the Police and also mentioned that Shivani Tomar is also missing. Initially, many suspected that the two might have eloped as there are some issues for the couple as far as the relationship is concerned.
However, the boy’s family raised doubts that the girl’s family might be behind this and they mentioned the same angle in the complaint. Following this, the girl’s family members were arrested and grilled. It is said that they have confessed to the crime.
Shivani Tomar (18) and Radheshyam Tomar (21) are from neighboring towns in Madhya Pradesh and met each other somehow. Their friendship grew into a relationship slowly and the girl’s family knew about this and warned the couple to end the relationship. But the couple did not listen to this and were reportedly shot dead and thrown into the river.
The issue created a sensation in the state and also raised many concerns. Many wonder where we are heading as a society. The victims are majors and have the right to pick their partners. But the parents and society are not ready to accept this. Sometimes, parents go to an extreme level and execute honor killings.
