It is already known that the CBI court admitted YSRCP member and Narasapuram MP Raghu Ramakrishna Raju‘s petition for the cancellation of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s bail in the illegal assets case.
Post filing this petition, RRR was recently arrested by the AP CID, on the grounds of treason against the AP government, for his allegedly intentional defaming comments on Jagan and the YSRCP government.
RRR was released from the Secunderabad Military hospital just today, following the Supreme Court’s bail orders issued to him a couple of days ago, and has been now taken to Delhi.
On the other hand, the CBI court had already asked for the CBI and for Jagan’s lawyers to file a counter-petition to RRR’s petition. Despite giving several warnings, and this being the last one, neither bothered enough to respond.
RRR’s lawyers had previously asked the CBI court to impose a fine on Jagan, for his negligence towards the CBI court’s orders, but the CBI court chose to give him the last chance, and wanted him saying that a direct inquiry would be ordered in case he fails to submit a counter-petition.
Filing a counter-petition is not a big deal, but Jagan seems to have chosen to ignore doing it, and the CBI seems to have taken Jagan’s case lightly.
The illegal assets case was filed on Jagan when the Congress was in power, and several other charge sheets were filed on him as well. He has been a remand prisoner for 16 months before he got bail.
This is not the first time that Jagan has chosen to ignore the CBI court, as he has not been attending any court hearing on Fridays, as he is supposed to, citing lame excuses. It is now to be seen what the CBI court will do.
