The Tollywood Active Producers Guild meeting will be held later today and the purpose of the same is to avert the box office clash which looks imminent next Sankranthi season as biggies like RRR, Radhe Shyam, and Bheemla Nayak are gearing up for theatrical release. The producers guild wants to avoid a head-on clash between three big-ticket projects, Bheemla Nayak, RRR, and Radhe Shyam as it would greatly impact the box office performance of all these three films. The idea is to postpone the release of at least one of these three biggies. It is heard that the talks are underway to postpone Bheemla Nayak’s release date.
A couple of days ago, it was heard that Bheemla Nayak will not be releasing on the 12th of January and it would make way for RRR and Radhe Shyam. But all of a sudden, the makers dropped an affirmative update yesterday, saying they will indeed be releasing Bheemla Nayak in theatres on the 12th of January next year. A related poster was also unveiled. This made it clear that a huge box office clash is indeed imminent next Sankranthi season. In the wake of these developments, the producers guild is planning to find an amicable solution and they are orchestrating a viable release path for all these three biggies.
In all fairness, Bheemla Nayak is the first of the three Sankranthi releases to lock the Sankranthi window. Radhe Shyam and RRR joined the Sankranthi race later. If anything, Bheemla Nayak should be given the Sankranthi release slot. But the problem here is that RRR and Radhe Shyam are heavy-budget projects and they will need the Sankranthi release advantage to make it big at the box office. On the other hand, Bheemla Nayak is a medium budget project(For star hero standard) and it can rake up big moolah at the box office no matter the release slot. So, the producers guild is now said to be interested in allocating the Sankranthi release slot to RRR and Radhe Shyam. Bheemla Nayak will be pushed to 26th January, Republic Day slot. An official announcement will be out shortly.
