Moral policing on social media especially by some self-claimed Muslim zealots seems to have hit zenith. The latest incident involving the trolling of former India cricketer Irfan Pathan is the unfortunate example for this.
Pathan has recently posted a picture of himself and his wife on Facebook. Soon, his wall was poured with critical comments for being “unIslamic”. You may be wondering what is that so ‘Unislamic’ thing he or his wife has committed to earn the wrath of the Muslim fanatics?
Well, Pathan’s wife, ‘who was fully clad in hijab’, was showing just her ‘hands’ in the photo. Can you believe that someone can be called ‘unislamic’ for not covering their “Hands”. Isn’t this the zenith of fanaticism?
Some zealots even shamed the woman for showing her eyes and some cited ‘nail polish’ as the reason for calling the couple ‘unislamic’. Some advised Pathan not to expose or advertise his wife!!! All this for just not covering ‘Hands’!!!!
Thankfully, there were some sane people who stood in support of the couple and asked the haters to let people live their lives and not impose their ideology on others.
A couple of months ago, cricketer Mohammed Shami was shamed for posting a picture of his wife, who was wearing a decent western outfit.
