Are internal troubles dogging BJP candidate for the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar Graduate Constituency election campaign N Ramachandra Rao? Reports are that a section of the party is not working for him. They are not just keeping away from the campaign, but are also said to be raising questions against him.
The general refrain is that Ramachandra Rao did nothing for them during the last six years as an MLC. They are also accusing him of not touring the constituency adequately. These workers, especially those from the pro-BJP students wing, which is quite influential among the graduate voters, are not involved in the campaign. Sources say that a senior leader of the party, who is part of the strategy and organizational activities, is said to be lukewarm towards Ramachandra Rao.
A section of the party is claiming that Ramachandra Rao is getting most opportunities in the party. He was given MLA ticket twice, MP ticket once and MLC ticket twice. If only one person gets so many opportunities, what about the other upcoming leaders, they ask. Ramachandra Rao, however, is refuting these arguments. ‘He is fighting the elections so many times because the party is giving him the ticket, his supporters claim.
The elections to the Graduates Constituency would be held on March 14. Ramchandra Rao is pitted against PV’s daughter Vani Devi, who is the TRS candidate, Left-backed former MLC Dr Nageshwar and former minister Chinna Reddy.
